Sea buckthorn syrup – fuel your day with berry power

A healthy diet provides us with the energy we need to tackle the everyday challenges that life throws our way. What we decide to eat for breakfast plays a decisive role in how much energy we get throughout the day. Want to give your breakfast an energy boost? Add sea buckthorn syrup to your muesli, smoothies or yoghurt. It even strengthens your immune system, and tastes delicious!
Read on to find out all you need to know about vitamin-rich sea buckthorn berries and discover the recipe for our Mediterre sea buckthorn power smoothie.

Sea buckthorn – ‘orange is the new snack!’
Radiant, golden orange sea buckthorn berries grow on wild plants that are thousands of years old. Our Mediterre farmer, drawing on his many years of experience, carefully cultivates them under the Tuscan sun on his Demeter organic farm.
The vitamin-rich berries give us the perfect amount of energy to help us deal with everyday life, which is becoming ever more complex and demanding.

But what makes sea buckthorn so healthy and nutritious?
Sea buckthorn is an outstanding source of vitamin C. Up to 900 mg of vitamin C is found in just 100 g of sea buckthorn fruit, a substantial amount when compared to oranges or lemons, which contain just 50 mg. Sea buckthorn gives our immune system a huge natural boost.
It is also a plant-based source of that all-important vitamin B12 – good to know for the vegans among us, as we normally only get this vitamin from meat or fish. These amazing benefits are all down to a natural symbiosis with bacteria on the fruit’s skin. To put it more simply, sea buckthorn is a super fruit.

And if that wasn’t enough, sea buckthorn fruit contains essential and non-essential oils (around 3-5%), which are rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, have a very high amount of carotene and a single berry contains virtually the entire vitamin complex. The oils have a high amount of palmitoleic acid, a rare omega-7 fatty acid packed with health benefits.
Medically speaking, sea buckthorn helps fight infections and illnesses and can be used to heal wounds.

Start the day well with sea buckthorn syrup
To help keep your energy and concentration up at work, school or while studying, our Demeter Sea Buckthorn Syrup, processed using sustainable methods, combines all these important health benefits. And it tastes superb!

Our Mediterre Demeter producers carefully process the berries on-site, straight after harvest, and turn them into a syrup. This gentle procedure ensures that all the essential health benefits remain.
